We’ve recently achieved ground-breaking scores in National Highways Lean Maturity Assessment (HELMA). An increase from the previous year, this year’s score of 3.3/4.0 ensures that Balfour Beatty sit at the top of each of National Highways Lean Maturity league tables and are ‘Industry Leading’ in five of the ten HELMA areas. Commended for our commitment to promote industry wide transformation and provision of initiatives to develop the wider community, the achievement follows a successful 2021 for the company, having also achieved ISO18404 earlier in the year. Congratulations to all involved who since the introduction of HELMA in 2017, have helped our Lean capability score grow year on year.

Our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team volunteered for @PPWHospice , a charity that looks after those with life-limiting or life-shortening illnesses. The team graded newly donated & recycled merchandise to ensure sufficient quality for the hospice’s shop. A fantastic group effort!

We’ve gone ape at @paigntonzoo !

With no time for any any monkey business our Western Rail team recently built some climbing frames for the zoo’s orangutans and gorillas, ensuring that Devon’s local primates have a new source of fun for the New Year. We hope that the zoo’s visitors will be pointing out these wonderful animals and their play equipment for years to come!

As part of #NationalEmployabilityDay we visited HM Prison Holme House to help deliver a series of careers workshops alongside Atkins and Novus.

On the day, a select group of learners were shown how the skills and training completed during their sentences could help them find future careers in the construction sector as they resettle and build a positive future in the community.
